AchieveMents: Formally registered as an NGO in 1980, SEDT has had a long-standing presence in Parbhani district of Marathwada as a team involved in pioneering work in the area on child rights, child education, economic empowerment of women and natural resource management. The organization emerged with the vision of socio-economic development of the poor and weaker sections of the society, where in people are mobilized for their own empowerment. Many individuals and organizations joined us in our journey to realize our vision. The road so far has been strewn with challenges. However, every time we have emerged stronger and wiser- only because of the support and solidarity extended to us by various organizations, social activists, friends and funding partners- Yojana (Netherlands); PACS Programme-DFID (U.K.); NABARD; State Bank of India; State Bank of Hyderabad; Government of Maharashtra (Department of Agriculture, department of Women and Child Development); Morris Trust and Firodia Trust. We gratefully acknowledge their faith in us. It is this faith and support that enabled us to work in 332 villages last year. We covered every household in these 332 villages and every child through our projects on child education. In collaboration with our project partners, our outreach extended effectively in Nanded, Latur, Aurangabad and Beed districts. We were also able to organize 8,500 women into self-help groups and organize another 20,000 farmer women through “Krushi Vidnyan Mandal”.
