AchieveMents: With a view to having an incessant search for the roots underlying all ills of society and nation a band of young theatre activists comprising of Tapati Munshi,Swapan Ghosh,Chandan Chakraborty,Late Samir Dasgupta,Anilbandhu Banerjee,Late Rabin Das,Late Kalidas Dey,Ashoke Saha and Pankaj Munshi founded a drama group named Samikshan on 22.11.1978.Samikshan started its journey with Swadeshi Naksha a play by renowned playwright Mohit Chattopadhyay.Samikshan during this long journey of 31 years has produced 16 plays of some renowned playwrights to put an indelible mark in the history of bengali theatre which are Swadeshi Naksha,Kanamachhikhela,Abu Hossain,Totaram,Mrichchhakatika,Lobhendra Gabendra,Guhachitra,Antaral,Swapna Ujan,Kaler Yatra,Manmoyee Girls School,Anya Bhuban,Ekeiki bale Sabhyata,Bhoot,Punarjanma and Bidhatapurush.Samikshan has also risen to any social call and participated in many educational programme relating either to theatre or to any social cause.We have also been invited to many theatre festivals not only in bengal but also beyond our state geograohy in different cities of India to entertain innumerable audience.During this gracious and introspective presence in indian theatre fraternity Samikshan has not only been showered with unabashed love of uncountable welwishers but also been bestowed with many honors and awards like Dishari award for best production and abhinoy puroskar for best actor(Pankaj Munshi)in1979 for Swadeshi Naksha,Govt of West Bengal award for best director(Pankaj Munshi) and Writwik Ghatak Smriti puroskarfor best production in 1986 for Totaram(so far staged for more than 310shows),Writwik Ghatak Smriti puroskar for best director(Pankaj Munshi)in 1990 for Mrichchhakatika,best production and best actress (Manasi Sinha) award by Pashchimbanga Natya Academy of Govt of West Bengal in 2000 for Swapna Ujan.A true drama for children amusement is getting shape in our mind and is in the pipeline.
