AchieveMents: Samuha is NGO working in state of karanataka , formed in 1986with the goal of to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people.
SAMARTHYA is a sector of SAMUHAas a wing to intervene and reduce the issues facinglike economically, socially and Mentaly backword PWDs. Samarthya is implementing disability programmes since 1989 through CBRapproachs in Koppal and Raichur districts. Samarthya ensures sustainability of the interventions through the formation of Self-Help Groups for PWDs and their caregivers.
Samarthya has reached 15200PWDs through its clinics, aids and appliances.

Objectives.
ââ¬Â¢ Prevention through awareness.
ââ¬Â¢ Reduction of Functional Problems through assessment, therapy clinics, aids and appliances.
ââ¬Â¢ Empowerment through ownership through SHGs, vocational training, and advocacy.
ââ¬Â¢ Mainstreaming through pre schools, inclusive education and Capacity building.
Major Interventions and their impact
1. Early intervention service and Education for children with disabilities:
ââ¬Â¢ Home based programme for 0-6 years for children
ââ¬Â¢ Capacity building of ASHA, anganawadi teachers and health workers to identify and address the need of CWDs through use of braile, sign language, and special education.
ââ¬Â¢ 9251 children screened in 54 villages of koppal taluk and found 310 children with disability enrolled in early intervention centre Services to nearly 201 children aged 0-6 years and 155 children aged 7-18 years.
ââ¬Â¢ Home-based services reaching 1294 people
2. Deaf children and young people rehabilitation:
ï⧠Training in life skills, communication skills and special education.
ï⧠300 deaf children are improving in education.
ï⧠250 deaf children got ID cards, and received BT hearing aid, school scholarship, Hostels etc
ï⧠30 young persons completed vocational trainings and 15 started self-employment like Horticulture, agriculture, electrician etc.
3. Functional adaptation and Mobility Aids for PWDs
ââ¬Â¢ 654 people were provided mobility aids and appliances.
ââ¬Â¢ Homes of 16 people with disabilities were Adapted
ââ¬Â¢ Mobility training and counseling for depression was organized for 150 people with spinal cord injuries.
4. Carers:200 careers empowered in the project area through self help groups, livelihood actives, Counseling, advocacy training.
5. Vocational training in horticulture
6. 68 PWD completed training and 28 started self employment, 25 PWD got placement and lead independent life and became contributing member in the family.
7. Education and Awareness:4750 people from NGOs, government departments and other community members received guidance and exposure on disability issues.
8. Disability training programmer: The organization conducted different disability training programmes like PGDCBR, DCBR, Indian portage on ECCD, inclusive education and planning and management of self help groups and NGOs. So for the project trained 150 PWDs and 350 community members
Awards and Recognitions
ââ¬Â¢ Samuha Samarthya was a recipient of state award from Directorate of disabled welfare, Government of Karnataka for the excellent service in the disabilities on 3rd December-2015.
ââ¬Â¢ Samuha is a member in National trust Act 1999 Local level committee.
