This is the only Centre in Sikkim belonging to Sakyapa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The main purpose is to preserve age old tradition by giving education to young monks. We have more than 100 resident students studying ritualistic tradition of Buddhism particularly of Sakya. The students are given free education, boarding and food. They are mostly from a very poor family from Sikkim and other parts of India . They are taught Tibetan reading, writing and also English. Monks are all ordained.
