AchieveMents: A. ABOUT THE INSTITUTE: • Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir was founded by Hathayogi Shri Nikam Guruji. (Pundalik Ramchandra Nikam). in the year 1965 at Girgaon, Mumbai. He worked in Mumbai Police Dept. and retired as Police Officer from CID Dept. He stared teaching Yoga on individual basis at his residence till 1985. • After retirement he settled down at Shrirang Society, Thane in 1975. • In the year 1982 Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir was registered as Public Charitable Trust. • In the year 1985 Institute shifted in its own premises CD/51-C1 at Shreerang Society Thane. • In the year 1991 because of flood affected area the premises were vacated for redevelopment. • In the year 1992 the Institute shifted at its present address B.K.Mill Compound, Meenatai Thackrey Chowk, Near Hotel Royal Inn, LBS Rd.,Thane 400601. • In 1999 January Shri Ambika Yoga Vanoushadhi Centre was established on the 2 acres of land leased by CIDCO authority at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. • Three preliminary courses are conducted in all our 90 branches. • Our annual programmes are: 1) Gudhipadva (Vardhapan Din), 2) International Yoga Day 21st June, 3) Yoga Din - 18th July, 4) Gurupornima (Vyas Poojan), 5) Swasthya Din – 15th August, 6) Ashtami Havan (Navratra). • Yoga Teachers’ Examinations are conducted every year since 1980. • Also organized programs for Reserve Bank of India employees from 1986 till 2001. • Thane Jail Inmates for 2 years and Alibaug Jail for 8 years. At present Yoga sessions are conducted at Satara Jail. • Kandivali Zone, Mumbai Police Personnel are being trained for past 4 years and about 3000 police personnel are practicing Yoga. The lead was taken by Shri.Sadanand Date. Yoga/Naturopathy facilities • Yoga Activity is being organized for last 51 years through 90 branches (List enclosed). Every year Yoga Teachers Training Courses are conducted and Exam taken at Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir, Thane Head Quarter. • In 1999 January Shri Ambika Yoga Vanoushadhi Centre was established on the 2 acres of land leased by CIDCO authority at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. • The place is mainly used for imparting Yogic knowledge viz. Cleansing process, Yogasan practices for the Yoga teachers. • The regular Yoga sessions are being conducted for the people free of cost. • The preliminary knowledge of medicinal plants is being given to yoga teachers. • Recently we have introduced Naturopathy facilities viz. steam bath, oil massage etc. • The regular lectures are organized for conveying importance of Yoga Naturopathy to community. • Every year on 26th January we celebrate “Kruti Din”. This year Dr.Kumud Joshi, office bearer of International Naturopathy Organization (INO) are present and deliver lecture.
