AchieveMents: The Major Activities of the Organization :
The Society for Education of the Deaf and Blind was Registered on 6th August, 1984, with a view to provide a comprehensive and integrated service to the physically and mentally challenged children. It is a non-profit and non-political voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The Society has successfully completed 30 years of service in serving the disabled.
Accordingly the Organization is imparting Education and Vocational Training to hearing impaired and mentally challenged children. There are nearly 200 Deaf Children studying from 1st class to 10th class and 50 M.R. Children. Every year the School for the Deaf is securing 100% pass in SSC Examinations. The Organization was awarded Certificate of Appreciation by the District Collector for its excellent services in the field of Disability. Our Children are very proficient in Sports and Games, Chess, Drawing, Painting and Taekwondo etc., The Deaf Children have bagged State level Awards in Chess, Sports and Games. Our Students also bagged several awards and prizes in Drawing and Painting conducted by various Organizations at District, State and National Levels. Our School has also started two year Intermediate course through APOSS and Distance Education for the benefit of Deaf Students who passed SSC. Nearly from two years so many Students passed Intermediate successfully prosecuting their Degree Examinations through Andhra University Correspondence Course. An Important aspect which gives us maximum satisfaction is that a number of hearing impaired children got Employment in Government Departments and those who could not secure Government Jobs are engaged in Self Employment Programs.
Another remarkable achievement of the Organization is that it has secured award from the NTR Memorial Trust, Hyderabad at State level in the field of Disability for its outstanding achievements and high standards of excellence in Social service on 11-11-2011. The Organization has participated in various State and National level conferences and presented papers on various aspects pertaining to disability. The Organization has also participated in a number of International conferences organized by REHAWISS, a SWISS Organization. The organization has conducted various Seminars and workshops on Hearing Impairment. Recently a Regional Seminar cum workshop was conducted on the topic Early Detection and Intervention of hearing impairment in infants. As a follow up of the seminar a Medical Camp was also conducted for the hearing impairment for the children below 3 years. Nearly 80 children were screened and it was found that nearly 8 children found to be having hearing impairment.
Another remarkable achievement of the Organization is that from the year 2005 it is publishing a Quarterly House Journal by name ââ¬ÅLAKSHYAââ¬Â depicting the activities, events and achievements of the Organization from time to time. Every day a number of visitors from different parts of the country and also from other countries visit the organization and note down their observations in the visitorsââ¬â¢ record maintained by the Organization.
