Operational States:

AchieveMents: Unnayan Foundation Trust has been created with the objective of empowering the weaker section of the society in general and women in particular. In consonance with these aims and objectives major category-wise charitable activities being carried out by the Trust are as follows – [A] STUDENT SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME In consonance with the objectives enshrined in the deed of the Trust which provides for grant of scholarships for poor, deserving and needy students for elementary, middle and higher education, Unnayan decided to sponsor formal education of 6 girls and 2 boys from very poor families in order to support them build their future. [B] UNNAYAN ADOPTS VILLAGE UTTARDHAUNA IN LUCKNOW DISTRICT To provide relief to the poor and in order to improve health, education and economic condition of villagers in general and for empowering the women of the village in particular, Unnayan has adopted Village Uttardhauna in Lucknow district to bring it up as a model village in terms of an empowered women community and a self dependent village. Unnayan has intervened to make the women of the village empowered through improved health, education and nutrition. To achieve this aim, we are focusing on key issues - women education, healthcare, hygiene, nutrition, skill development and formation of self-help groups. Apart from making them aware of the necessity of these basic amenities of a dignified human life, regular adult schools and health camps are being organized. [C] ADULT EDUCATION & LITERACY CLASSES & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: 1. To empower the women, adult education programme is being run in Village Uttardhauna. About 150 women were distributed free of cost adult education kits. Regular literacy classes are being held in the Panchayat Ghar of the village for the women of Uttardhauna. 2. The enthusiasm that these women of the village have shown has resulted into most of the illiterate women becoming literate enough to read and write and calculate their expenses. 3. Besides these, women are also being taught things for living a quality life. 4. Most of the women who were illiterate and ignorant are now willingly involved in the process of transforming themselves into being literate, having learnt to read, write and communicate effectively. 5. Our biggest achievement has been to successfully motivate women of all ages to strive for a better life by becoming more aware of the surroundings and by learning to read and write, at minimum. [D] HEALTH CAMPS & EYE CAMPS: In order to improve the health conditions of the villagers, 03 major health camps have been organized by Unnayan in village Utthardhauna. Doctors of major specialities attended these camps. Facilities for free ECG check up, blood test and free eye test were made available. All patients were distributed medicines free of cost and power glasses have also been provided free of cost to them. [E] EMPLOYMENT & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: Unnayan has supported 4 women volunteers to assist in the literacy programme being conducted in Uttardhauna for which they are paid honorarium making them self-dependent.
