AchieveMents: ââ¬Â¢ This Association have member strength of 1470 Central Govt. pensioners /family pensioners as on 01.04.2016 comprising of 5 units. Monthly meetings in all 5 branches are held on scheduled date each month to enlighten members about latest development/circulars etc. issued by Govt. The governing Body of the Association, comprising of 25 members, meet on 2nd Monday of each month and discuss on various issues as per Agenda & take decision on the issues including passing of accounts for the month. The decision taken in the meeting are implemented after ratification in the GB Meeting of the following month. At the end of the calendar year, Annual General Meeting of the Association is held normally in the month of February when Audited Accounts of the Association are placed along with performances of the Association. Election of the Governing Body members is held bi-annually with prior notification to all members on roll. Besides the above, the following activities are also undertaken during the year:
1. Activities :
i) Looking after the grievances of pensioners/family pensioners by taking up issues with the concerned departments/Banks for remedial action are the main function. In the previous year 262 grievances were taken up & 172 of them disposed of. The balance undecided 90 cases have been carried forward & tagged with the following year.
ii) Social activities in the form of donation to Prime Minister Relief Fund for National calamities whenever necessary, Health check-up camp for pensioners/family pensioners, Awareness Programme on health such as cancer prevention etc., Cultural activities such as Library, Tourism (on no loss no profit basis) for pensioners with spouse/family pensioners. Cultural functions by members & local activists once a year after Durga Puja festival & on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti (Tagoreââ¬â¢s birth day) are held normally with monetary support from members.
iii) In medical emergency/ daughterââ¬â¢s marriage of members, on their written request are given assistance as advance on non-bearing interest, refundable in 12 months.
iv) As a fast step towards Swachha Bharat Abhijan, the Governing Body members of the Association met together with a few enthusiasts on 15th & 22nd Mayââ¬â¢ 2016 in the Association premises & took up the Swachhata drive in right earnestness & did their best for all round cleanliness of Association rooms & meeting hall etc.
v) Every year, in the Annual General Meeting of the Association, octogenarian members are felicitated with Shawl etc. Last year we had felicitated 48 such octogenarian members.
2. Achievements :
i) The Association was nominated as one of the Identified Associations in the year 2008 by the DOP&PW for representing grievances of pensioners. It also received annual grant of Rs. 60,000/- / 75,000/- to meet day to day expenses of the Association in four Identified heads. The work of the Association was further boosted by supply of a Computer & a printer by the Government.
ii) The Association has also been nominated by DOP&PW as a rotational member in the Standing Council of Voluntary Agency (SCOVA) in 2015.
