AchieveMents: The Trust has been working for the Comprehensive development of persons with Disabilities(PWDs) and implementing Community Based Rehabilitation(CBR) for the last 10 years in 8 mandals of Mahabubnagar District of Andhra Pradesh. The guiding principles of our work are ownership by the PWDs, convergence, compliance with national and international conventions and statutory provisions, livelihood development. The key interventions are 1. Social mobilisation- formation and nurturing of SHGs and their federations 2. capacity building of all stakeholders including government officials and representatives of local Bodies 3. Rehabilitation services under CBR mode 4. Livelihood development 5. Facilitating inclusive policies and programs. Thus we facilitated formation of 305 Self Help Groups and federated them at mandal level. We facilitated rehabilitation services to 6550 people with deisabilities under CBR program. These 8 mandal federations are managing 8 neighbourhood centres for providng CBR services. One special school for the children with Mental retardation and severe disabilities is run by the federations with finacial support from the Government under Rajiv Vidya Mission.
We facilitated accessing of Rs. 54.87 lakhs by federations from Government which they use as revolving fund and rotate among themselves for funding their livelihood activities. This is called Community Initiative Fund(CIF) and totally managed by the federations. They could also access Rs. 11.73 lakhs from Commercial Banks as loan for their livelihood activities.
