International Participation in Earth Science Olympiad. The International Earth Science
Olympiad (IESO) is organised annually for
higher secondary school students hailing
from different countries across the world.
It is one of the important programmes of
the International Geoscience Education
Organisation(IGEO; www.geoscied.org)
promoting earth science education in schools all over the world. The principal objectives of IESO are to upraise student interest in and public awareness of Earth Science

International Participation in Earth Science Olympiad
Unlike the other International Olympiads conducted on subjects such as astronomy, life sciences, chemistry, physics
and mathematics, the Geological Society of India, Bangalore, as a part of its outreach programme towards
popularising Earth Sciences to school students, conducts
the Indian National Earth Science Olympiad and participates in the IESO programme every year. As in the previous years, the entrance test was conducted in 64 centres.

Geoscience Educational Organization (IGEO), affiliated to the
International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
The IESOâs mission is to raise awareness and interest in Earth Sciences among school children as well as general public to improve Earth Science learning of students.
