AchieveMents: The Organisation for Unemployed Women Welfare (ORUWOW), Singjamei had continued the short stay home at Porompat, lmphal East District with our resource. Main objective of the short stay home is to give shelter and care service to those women victims. Not only giving the service of shelter and care, they are imparted skill training on vocational for their self employment to help in their livelihood.
ORUWOW started to mobilize the community for the technology of rainwater during the rainy season. In Manipur, most of the communities of different areas have been facing the problem of shortage of water. Not only for the drinking, it is difficult for their domestic uses also. To reduce the problem, ORUWOW mobilized the community for presentation and harvesting technology for water. The awareness programme was conducted at Haorang, Ichum Keirak and Top Moirangkampu on 1st June, 2007, 18th February 2008 and 28th March, 2008 respectively. The awareness programmes were participated by 24, 32 and 18 person respectively
To keep the climatic condition of Manipur as natural one, ORUWOW has conducted environment and ecological development programme at Chandel and lmphal West District. The main objective of the programme is to promote our environment and to bring an ecological balance for our future generation. In this year, Solid Waste Management is the theme for proper management of the waste material, which helps in air and water pollution. Altogether 165 nos. of persons were participated in these two programme at Tengnoupal and Andro.
This year also, the ORUWOW had observed the International Candle Light Memorial Day 2007 at its office premises. The programme is preside by Ksh. lnaomacha Singh, President and gave nutritional support to 12 children living with HIV/AIDS. 3 reactive women were also honored in the function.
With the increasing usages of chemical fertilizers in agricultural activities, many diseases affect human beings and most of them are engaging medical practitioner for their good health, but it is not in the right way. This year also, ORUWOW had seriously discussed for our sustainable way of life. By the situation, Yoga for being a good health is very important for our self- practice in our home and conducted 3 days yoga awareness program for women on 21st January, 2008 at Maibam Leikai with 20 participants
ORUWOW had conducted 6 months training on Tailoring and Embroidery at Singjamei Chingamakha. The course were participated by 25 women who are from different areas of Imphal West District. Skill of modern technology and design were imparted to the trainees. The training were started from 10th July, 2007.
Taking the seriousness of HIV/AIDS, the ORUWOW organized one-day awareness on prevention of HIV/AIDS. This awareness programme was organized in coordination with 2 voluntary organizations working in HIV/AIDS at Imphal West District. Technical resource persons were from this organisation. 45 persons were participated in the awareness programme which was conducted on 12th October, 2007 at Sagolband.
