AchieveMents: SRC, Rayagada has been entrusted with the task of promoting adult literacy in the tribal areas of Odisha covering mostly, South Odisha districts, namely, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh and Ganjam, where human development indicators are relatively lower and adult literacy rates are low specially amonge women. The main objectives of SRC is to provide academic resource support to those agencies who are associated with adult literacy initiatives and programmes by organizing training, developing producting teaching learning materials. SRC also carries out research and evaluation studies with reference to adult literacy. To provide resource support for establishment of a egalitarian society in which each according to his ability and each according to his needs. The gender, social and cultural barriers that women face will be taken into consideration while designing teaching learning programmes. Gender will not be seen in isolation but in conjunction with other social categories like caste, ethnicity, religion, disability, etc. Special priority will be given to women, belonging to SC, ST, minority and other disadvantaged groups in rural areas .The message would be conveyed so forcefully that the issue of literacy will become part of the social discourse and will motivate the non literates especially women to take part in learning , and the educated to voluntarily contribute to the programme. To provide academic support for 100% literacy in the tribal Areas of South Odisha. To help build an enabling environment for a knowledge society. To improve the quality of life of the tribal people through continuous learning process coupled with various skill development programmes. To achieve the target of Saakshar Bharat Programme initiated by the Government of India. To create a resource pool to prepare learning materials like; Primers, Bridge Primers, Posters. Booklets, Pamphlets, C.E Books. To impart teaching at different level at different level viz. G.P, Block, District and state.
