AchieveMents: ACHIEVEMENTS AND LESSONS LEARNT FROM LAST YEAR WORK SRI SAI MAHILA SANGAM is a community based organization which consists of an executive body, general body and staff who are working completely with service motto. Sri Sai MahilaSangam was established in 1999, Registration of Society 29th July 1999, Registration No. 5149/1999, AP (Telangana areas) Public Society, Registration Act 1350 Fasli (Act I of 1350 F). Sri Sai MahilaSangam community Organization is working with Children, youth, women, community and health programmes. FSW TARGETED INTERVENTION PROJECT: As a part of FSW targeted intervention project SSMS our origination working on health awareness programs has concentrating on promotion of awareness on HIV/AIDS and educating the key population on condom as well as STI problems. As the HIV/AIDS epidemic began to proliferate in the country India, the organization felt the urgent need to address the issue by way of generating awareness among high risk groups as well general population. Since Tuberculosis is one of the most opportunistic disease for the people suffering with HIV/AIDS as well the prevalence of Tuberculosis is considerably high among the developing countries, the issue of Tuberculosis is also addressed by way of creating awareness in our adopted area of operation. With gender inequality, health status and herein addition to the awareness programs; In this year one-one, one-group, focus group and counseling sessions were organized especially for sex workers and migraines labour in the Nacharam, Mallapur, Charlapalli, industrial areas and also in Kapra, Old Malkajgiri, Tarnaka, AdikmetHabsiguda,Balajinager, Barath Nager, Bollaram, Chennapuram, Indira Nager, Defiance colony, Dental college, Gowtham Nager, Lothukunta, Macha Bollaram, Nethaji Nager, Old Alwal, S.P. Nager, Safilguda, Vayupuri, Venkatapuram, and Yapral. By Commercial sex workers. Sexual transmission accounting or more than 75% of spread of HIV in the area. Activities of the Intervention The organization is implementing the Programme through core Components: 1. Behavior Change Communication 2. STD Care Services 3. Condom Promotion & Distribution Programme 4. Enabling Environment. 5. Referrals & Linkages 6. Community Mobilization Committees Formation in the Programme: 1. Project Advisory Committee The Committee is Comprising of 9 members is representing 1/3 from programme Administration, 1/3 from Outreach Team and 1/3 from Community People. The basic aims and objective this committee to organize the review meetings for quarterly once and review the programme plans vs Achievements for the three months period and identify the gaps forms the review in each component and takes the resolutions for recommendations to take up on priority basis. 2. Crisis Management and Advocacy Committee The Committee is formed to response the community issues regarding any violence, discrimination, police harassment, gundas harassment etc. This committee to advocate the problem for smooth full solution and sensitize the issues at anywhere in project services on priority basis. The committee comprises of 7 members team, 2 from the project team, 1 from the Outreach team, 3 from the community and 1 from the out sourcing lawyer, the team is very active in the issues of community issues. They are organizing the legal literacy camps in DIC and Hotspot level for creating the awareness on District Legal Services Authority for free legal Advices, Domestic Violence Act-2005, ITPA Act etc. CBO Formation: In this Year, we have complete the CBO registration, to startup the some of the activities for supporting to programme. And to form a Hotspot Level Leaders; to sensitization to the key population, prior response to crisis management, developing health seeking behavior among key population and negotiating with pimps and madams for consistence use of condom by the key population.  SSMS has strong networking linkages with Govt. Depts. / NGOs / training and capacity building to various stake holders  Availability of trained, qualified, experienced, committed and skilled Staff  Strong involvement of community in the project activities  Mallapur,Nachram,Dammaiguda and Balajinagerareas most of in migration  Lot of improvement of HRGs attendance, participation various activities  With the help of CARE & TSACS conducted CBO elections represented 36 hotspot area HRGs  Regular review of Project Officer, TSU and Internal reviews with SSMS  On 20th day of February, 2013, after a comprehensive mobilization the previous day by the CARE team in association with the project staff, CBG leaders. Elections conducted at SSMS office (DIC). 30 Hot spot leaders have took part in this activity and the whole process went on well in a smooth, conducive and democratic manner.  Candle Light programme.  Blood donation Day programme.  DSRC Referrals are increased.  Community active participation on Blood Donation Camp  International Women’s Day programme  Women Empowerment Day programme  Child Labour eradication programme with out of school children in our field areas
