AchieveMents: SRI VENKATESWARA NATYA MANDALI SURABHI, a family based professional theatre, with 28 plays in its repertoire, since 1937, developing the theatre arts, touring throughout the country, erecting their own temporary SURABHI THEATRE with zinc sheets and gunny bag cloth giving public performances of plays and lectures in ancient drama literature, stage designing, makeup and acting by experts in the combined states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions in all the districts, often, participating in State, National and International levels, developing cultural interest to the public, providing pensions for the poor retired artists, taking care of health needs, education to their children, promoting unity among various cultural fields, under the leadership of PADMASHRI REKANDAR NAGESWARA RAO Alias Surabhi Babji since 42 years. The Surabhi theatre group generally, camping in several places, going on tour, erecting their own temporary mobile theatre, scheduling five performances of plays in a week, nearly 250 performances are being staged in a camp. The Surabhi theatre group gave its performances in the National School of Drama, New Delhi, Alarippu, New Delhi and R.R.C. Bangalore, under the direction and Music of PADMASRI B.V.KARANTH JI, BHEESHMA, CHANDIPRIYA, AND BASTHI DEVATHA YADAMMA adaptation of the good woman of Setzuan dramas. Workshops were conducted and training was given to our organization artists of younger generation in the modern theatre, for a period of 40 days to each play during 1996, 1997 and 1998. On the occasion of 125 years of SURABHI BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS I.G.N.C.A in collaboration with N.S.D, NEW DELHI jointly conducted the Surabhi Dramas from 22nd February, 2010 to 7th March, 2010 at New Delhi in a GRAND MANNER and marked as INTERNATIONAL SURABHI THEATRE FESTIVAL. We gave our performances of our theatre on the 4th Poorvottar Natya Samaroh, I.G.N.C.A. New Delhi on the occasion of MAHABHARATHA FESTIVAL 2011 Our Surabhi Theatre organization were invited to the Passages 2013 Festival at Metz and Paris in France, with 45 member artists and technicians for the performances of 18 shows for a period of 35 days. Our Surabhi Theatre organization was the one and the only from the outside the continent of Europe and from our continent Asia. During the Festival at Metz Aurelie Filipetti, Minister for Culture, France, and the Indian Embassy all the way travelling from Paris attended only for our performances and witnessed our play Bhakta Prahlada. The Honble Mayor, Metz city, France, inviting the entire Surabhi Theatre family, honored Surabhi Babji with a Gold medal.
