AchieveMents: The activities of the society covers socio-economic, cultural, physical, psychological, agricultural, environmental, rural development & educational spheres of community covering mostly ST, SC and weaker sections of the Society. The emphasis was particularly on women and children. Empowerment of the weak has been the basic motto of all our activities during the year.
1. EDUCATION COMPLEX
The Markelguda Residential Education Complex with 210 tribal girl students is functioning successfully with students from Class I to VII. The school is comparable to Central Schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya & Navodaya Vidyalaya.
2. NATIONAL CHILD LABOUR PROJECT ( N C L P )
The Society is running 2 nos. of NCLP School with 100 child labours for eradication of Child Labour and promotion of education among them.
3. AROGYA PLUS (HEALTH PROGRAMME) UNDER NRHM.
The society is running AROGYA Plus health programme from January, 2012 in Bardual and Madkapadar G.Ps of Khairput block with support from NRHM with an AYUSH doctor, Pharmacist, ANM, Community Mobiliser, Attendant-cum-Driver with an Ambulance.
4. NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN (N E A C)
National Environment Awareness Campaign activities were organized both in Hindol and Malkangiri project areas with participation of various stakeholders covering students, SHGs and the general public on the topic of Bio-diversity Conservation.
5. ORISSA TRIBAL EMPOWERMENT & LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMME (O T E L P)
The Society has completed 5 years of intensive work in the project area of Nandapur & Semiliguda in Koraput district. With 2 OTELP Plus Projects in Nandapur-Pottangi and Korukonda-Khairput the Society is working in 43 Micro Watersheds covering 75 villages and 30 hamlets promoting holistic development of the tribal people and others. Our major intervention is in the field of land and water management.
6. ODAF INITIATIVE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ââ¬â PHASE-IV
Under ODAF programme the Society continued empowerment programme with educational assistance, support to Gram Sabha & Palli Sabha, support to peoples network covering OAAA (Odisha Adivasi Adhikar Abhijan), capacity enhancement programme of the community and of the staff and awareness programme through media resource centre in all the 3 projects of Hindol, Malkangiri & Phiringia. The programme covered 2 G.Ps each in Hindol & Malkangiri & one G.P. of Phiringia in Kandhamal district. Under Secured Sustainable Livelihood (SSL), the Society has taken up Land development, agricultural assistance, seed support through seed bank, community forestry through nursery raising and plantation, income generation through Self-Help Group. Community Health care & nutrition for mother and children under 5 is a major programme.
7. GREENING INDIA PROGRAMME
The Society has taken up Greening activities through plantation of cashew, mango & other indigenous plants for last 18 years covering plantation area of 9000 acres with support from Felisimo Forest Foundation, Japan through TSRD, Kolkata.
8. ODISHA COMMUNITY TANK DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT PROJECT ââ¬â KHAMAR.
With support from World Bank through Water Resources Deptt., the Society facilitated peoples participation in management of 3 M.I.Ps of Andhari, Gandijora & Khanatapasi with 5 Pani Panchayats in 11 villages with 1089 households of Khamar in Pallahara block of Angul district.
