AchieveMents: VDM is NPO working in tribal slums of Bhopal, Sehore and Rajgarh district, M.P. India one of the dens slums in the region. This pioneering effort led to the birth of an organization and VDM was born in the year 1992. The organization got registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and recently got FCRA. Starting its activities in a tiny one-room structure by providing non-formal education to local villagers. Today VDM operates in number of villages in different projects in various slum communities thus serving around 5,000 rural and urban privilege communities. It has started for the overall development of villages. The aims and objectives include assisting entrepreneurs, artisans, craft persons designers manufacturing, governmental and non-governmental agencies through transfer of technologies, providing support services, executing market promotion strategies, providing financial assistance, forum for interaction with various national and international agencies etc. With the ideas of carrying towards the mandate VDM operated the following schemes. These schemes are promotional in nature and are fully funded by the Government of India through Plan funds. Entrusted by the Government of India to propagate and transmit the facts of diversified application of Jute, the National Center for Jute Diversification aimed to attain the goal. VDM carried out the diversification plan with its skillful collaborating agencies, The Jute Service Centers implement annual action plan drawn by VDM in consultation with respective centers and local government authorities. The action plan includes, amongst other things, Trade specific training programs, awareness programs and product development and marketing exercises. The services rendered, on behalf of VDM includes counseling, information on diverse possibilities with Jute, assistance in preparation of a tentative project profile for setting up a production unit, sourcing of raw material, providing designs for various marketable products, assisting and facilitating in marketing of produce, organizing training on various jute trades, developing jute products of newer kind etc. The main objective of the scheme is to enable craftsmen to produce quality products with wide acceptability in the world market. Cluster development initiatives are aimed at promoting and strengthening existing crafts & craft-clusters by developing artisan clusters into professionally managed and self reliant community enterprises on the principles of effective member participation and mutual cooperation towards sustainable competitive growth through technology up gradation as well as transfer, raw material access, skill development, managerial inputs, credit and market support. This would equip the beneficiary artisans to foresee future perspectives and evaluate capacity of clusters to face the challenges of ever increasing competition within and outside of country.
