VINOBANIKETAN Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

Operational Districts: Thiruvananthapuram

Operational States: KERALA

AchieveMents: Mahatma Gandhi’s Spiritual Heir, Samyayogi Vinoba, was a non-violent revolutionary who soar up to the heights beyond horizons to translate Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts in to practice aiming at the establishment of Gandhiji’s cherished vision of sarvodaya social order based on Truth, Love and Compassion where individual is of the whole world-family as Universal Man or Viswamanava. The Saint had trumpeted the slogan of “Jai Jagat” emphasizing the vision of one world that reverberated from the remote villages in India during his epoch making walk for land gift for the landless to achieve Gandhiji’s unfulfilled dream of Economic Equality. Saint Vinoba was the only sage of the age who could prove to the world that economic equality by change of hearts was definitely possible through love and non-violence. Situated in the declared Tribal Belt of Chooliamala Reserve Forests on the lap of enchanting Ponmudi Ranges, Vinobaniketan named after Vinoba is a Registered Charitable Women’s Institution that stands above caste, creed, nationality and party-politics serving the suffering humanity particularly the weaker sections of the society for the past 55 years on Gandhi-Vinoba lines through holistic development activities with special focus on education. The nerve centre of all activities is Vinobaniketan Ashram patronized in 1954 by Dr. Susheela Nayyar, an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi.
